Sig 556 Magazines

Bought my first rifle, a Sig 556, and I would like to more magazines. Since I am new to rifles, can someone recommend an aftermarket magazine? I like the ones that have clips that lock them together, but not a requirement.

PMAG's work well, they might take a little bit of an extra slap from time to time to get in bot nothing worse than I have seen on some AR's.

If you are talking about the 1st one. There aren't any aftermarket ones as far as I know.

If you are talking about #2, those magazines are junk, from what I have heard and you would be better just getting a good quality STANAG compatible magazine like:

If it's a SIG 556, it uses STANAG (AR-15) type mags. Magpul Pmags are the best AR-15 mags out there in my opinion. They are cheap and they work. Don't bother with the SIG polymer mags. They are junk.

Couplers are available to clip Pmags together, but in my opinion, this is a novelty that adds weight and unbalances the rifle.

The stock black plastic SIG-made magazines, that clip together, are pure junk. Keep it around for laughs, but don't rely on it.

PMAGS, OKay, Brownells, etc will work much better.

I figured as much but when he said clips that hold them together, for some reason I read that as little nubs like the 550 mags.

I knew they had made a run of Sig 556 rifles with 550 lowers. Thought that might have been what he was talking about.

I didn't realize the Sig 556 magazines clipped together.

I generally try to avoid Sig 556 anything.

I know exactly what you mean! I feel the same way about the ubiquitous AR15. I just don't like it.

However... So far I like my SIG556.
