As many of you may know, I am friends with and live relitively close to Roger Loock who owns Revelation Arms (a Title II manufacturer), anyway, I went into Rogers shop yesterday and someone had brought in a MG-17 for some work. The question is what plane(s) was this German Machine Gun mounted on?, and any other info about it? RPM, caliber, years of manufacture, etc ?

The book German Machineguns by Daniel D Musgrave from Collector Grade publications has quite extensive information on the MG17 (and all German machineguns) including all variations. The 17 was one of the main armaments of the German Luftwaffe. It came in both fixed and flexible mountings and came in synchronized and non-synchronized versions.
It was used in many Axis planes, including several Arados, a couple of Focke-Wulfs (Fw187, Fw189), several Heinkels, Henschel Hs 129, Junkers Ju87s and Ju88s, Messerschmitt Bf109 variants, Bf110 variants and Me 210 variants. |
