Spire Point
Could you give me a brief description of what exactly spire points are. I was thinking about loading my 300 win mag with 190 grain hornady spire points. they dont have a softer type of tip, do they?
thanks. |

"Spire Points" is Hornady's name for the bullets that they make with a small portion of exposed lead shaped in a pointed manner for maximum aerodynamic characteristics for long range hunting applications. This is in contrast to a "Round Nose" bullet for maximum expansion for short range hunting. While most shooting of white tail deer is at short distance, the offerings if the very efficeint round nose designs has fallen off in favor of more pointed bullets.
