300 Win Mag Load

New to reloading.... Trying to find a starting point for my 300 WinMag. Hornady 165 SST. Purpose is deer hunting (too much gun, but I love it) and paper punching. I was thinking of using IMR 4350 since I use it on my 280 and 25-06. Any other sugestions?

Not a great comparison, but I load 75gr IMR4831 w/ magnum primer for 180gr boattails.
really nice load for the 180's

I haven't tried the SSTs, but am loading 180 gr Barnes TSXs and 77 grains of Reloader 22 with mag primers for my Remington 700 SPS 300 mag. Have used IMR 4350 70.0 to 72.0 grains with Nosler Ballistic Tips , which are like SSTs, 180 grain with best groups 3/4" using 70.0 grains.

73.5grs IMR 4350
165 Sierra HPBT
CCI 250
Super X Case

Always start a few grains low and work up.

I load 73 Gr.reloader 22 with 165 grain Sierra Game King although my rifle really likes 190 Gr. game kings the best with reloader 22 everybody kept telling me to go with the 4895 although . Last weekend My nephew took 3rd with a stock sendero with the 190 over $6-$7000 rifles so I would say they work Fair . but the rifle has a 1 in 10 twist

Hodgdon's H1000 powder has worked really well for me with my magnum rifles. It's suppose to work really well for magnum rifles shooting heavier weight bullets. I'm shooting excellent groups with my 7mm Weatherby. I just started working on a load for my 7mm rem mag and have pretty good results so far. Off the top of my head, I believe the H4831 is suppose to be another good powder for magnums with heavier weight bullets.
