EO re 2d Am. rights

This isn't a substantive change in law or regs, but it describes a review process.

The interesting part will come from changes in policy or reg that may result.

Stay tuned.

It's a start, but it's limited to actions by the Biden administration. I wish it were a bit more open-ended.

While its pretty clear that Trump's EO is to review 2nd Amendment infringements during the Biden administration, it could be a basis to extend the review further into the past. Right now, its another way Trump can stick it to the Biden administration, and while that's ok with me, I hope they will, in the future go further back.

Right now, the new administration is throwing everything at the wall, including wildly unrealistic ideas (I think as distractors) hoping some important and badly needed things will stick.

Increased support and protection of our rights (2nd A and others) ought to be something that sticks to the wall. Personally, I think protection of our enumerated rights AND those not enumerated ought to be what the "wall" is made of.

Time will tell....

Indeed, time will tell. My concern is that politicians have short memories and short attention spans. This EO seems to be, as you note, another way for rump to stick it to the Biden administration. That's fine -- but because of that it doesn't even begin to address the more important guns rights issues, the ones that predate the Biden administration.

We know Trump has the attention span of a hamster on crack. My concern is that in his mind he will now feel he has fulfilled his promise to gun owners, and he'll never look at it again.

The order states that the actions of the Biden administration must be investigated at a minimum. The investigation is free to go farther back if they so choose.

Reversing Biden's vendetta will be a good start. There's plenty more after that.

Yes, and with a 30-day time window that minimum will become a de facto maximum.

Sadly, you're probably right. What the order ought to have said would give them 30 days to present a plan to review all the required documents, giving ample time to do a thorough review to each and all of them.

This will, most likely, result in lip service compliance to meet the 30 day limit, and not in the detailed in depth examination that ought to be done.

Never forget that while Trump has been more of a friend to 2nd Amendment rights than anyone else in power in recent decades, he is a fair weather friend who threw bump stocks under the bus when political pressure was enough to override the Obama administration's review of them, which determined they were legal and non regulated accessories.

This EO could be virtue signaling, without any real intent to make positive change. Time will tell, indeed.
