Mossberg MVP LC nightmare, please advise.

a Week ago I purchased a new Mossberg MVP LC rifle from wholesale hunter, had to order as no place local, not even the big boxes had one.

Picked up the Rifle from the FFL and took it home.

Immediately noticed that the barrel and action are not centered in the chassis.

The chassis is all aluminum and machined to fit the receiver, there is no way to adjust it whatsoever.

I hoped this was just a cosmetic issue and not a functional one, and off to the range we went.

So far we have made 3 trips to the range, have tried 2 different scopes, different sets of rings, different kinds of ammo and the results are consistent.. absolutely horrid accuracy. Its just all over the place, one shot might be dead center, the next high and right, the third low and left, fourth not even on paper.. etc etc.. this is all while shooting 50 yards off of sand bags and a poured concrete table..

the -BEST- group we could get out of it was a 6" group... AT 50 YARDS..

We never even tried shooting beyond 50 because it was so hard to keep it on paper. Often one or 2 rounds out of 5 would be touching, the other 3 would not even be on paper. Again, this was constant across 3 different trips with different ammo and optics.

Another thing we noticed, is no matter what scope or what rings we used, initially the point of impact was as much as 3 feet LOW @ 50 yards, we always had to nearly max out the elevation adjustment all the way up to get on paper, which I find very odd.

Im at a complete loss here, between the rifle and optics Im about $1800 deep into this thing and it shoots worse than a flea market pellet gun.

I assume the next step is to reach out to Mossberg, which as I understand it is often not a pleasant experience.

Anybody have any other suggestions or input? Im flat out of ideas here.

EDIT: Pics of crooked barrel/chassis below.

Send it back to Mossberg.

Mossberg should stand behind it, BUT it will take a while.

That definitely looks like the guy who used to clean the floors got promoted to the assembly line.
Bet there's more to the problem than just what shows in the pictures.
If that's all that was wrong with the rifle, the hits should be maybe not where it's aimed, but more consistent.
Did you take it back to the store that sold it to you for them to deal with it?
They might get better results for you.

Definitely a prob with THAT gun.

Ive got a MVP LC running a Vortex 4-16 and that gun SHOOTS. It has become my 308 of choice for suppressed shooting. I still shoot my FN SPR as my unsuppressed 308.

The MVP does not hold groups as small as the FN, but i wouldnt expect it to

I dont have my range log with me, but the MVP was a SOLID 1moa gun (prob closer to 3/4) at 100 and rings my clubs 8" steel plates at 550 with almost boring regularity.

I havent put it on paper at longer ranges yet, but expect it to hold its own out to the limit of scope come-ups

As an aside... If you are thinking about putting a PRS type stock on using the MDS adaptor...dont. It makes the LOP ridiculously long.

Actually I put a A2 tube and PRS stock on it and I love how it feels.

Without the adaptor, what keeps the stock from turning on the tube?

Hasn't been an issue, I just tightened the tube down tight and used the screw that came with the stock and its never moved.

I'll go mess with it in a sec and see if it will move.

Update: I was able to get it to move a little bit but it took a very deliberate effort.

Between how snug it fits on the tube (had to tap it on with a mallet) and having the rear screw nice and tight, I don't think there is any way it's going to inadvertently move.

That said it would be dead simple to drill the stock and tube and install a retaining screw if needed, but so far that's not needed on mine..

That rifle was made on either a Friday, or a Monday, as they used to say about Detroit's lemon automobiles. I'd definitely send it back, though don't tell them you took it down, as that could void the warranty. Just tell them that it is impossible to align, or place a scope on it, and that it seems that the action and barrel are not centered correctly in the stock. They'll see the problem as soon as their smith takes it down.
