Need Reload Data

Could I get someone to let me know what the min and max loads and the col. are for the following.

.223 with a 1:9 twist 16"
Varget powder
Nosler 55gr BTHP

Nosler site shows 23gr as the most accurate, this just seems really light especially when compared to the Speer 55gr SP. I appreciate the info.

Unfortunately the data it shows is for the Speer SP. I was hoping someone could provide data for the Nosler BTHP. Maybe from a Nosler manual.

Thanks for the reply.

The info on the Nosler web site is same that is in my Nosler 5th edition. All they tell you in the manual for COL is the SAAMI maximum. Which for 223 remington, is 2.260.

Thanks Red_Eagle. I plan to pick up a copy of the 6th Edition, which I believe is expected out at the end of the month. That's what I needed to confirm.

Its something how same weight bullets of diff manufacturers take such a difference in powder weight. Speer 55 takes 25.5 to 27.5, yet Nosler 55 takes 23 to 25. I thought maybe I was loading light.

If anyone has a Speer 55gr SP could they post the length of the bullet? I've been trying to find bullet lengths but the only ones that I have been able to find are the Nosler's.

Thanks again.

Well if you're going on book listed OAL's you're going about it all wrong. The length to the lands and/or max magazine length should determine your OAL. Not what the book says.

Another thing, just because the light load is the most accurate in the gun they were shooting doesn't mean it's going to be the most accurate in your rifle.

Hodgdon's site lists a max of 27.5gr Varget and my Lyman 48th lists a max load of 28.2gr Varget with a 50gr bullet.

It might be a good idea to invest in a stoney point (now Hornady lock n load) chamber guage . I have one and it's helped me alot.
