plug in 870 wingmaster magazine removal?

HOw do you eliminate the plug in the magazine of an 870 wingmaster to make it a 4 shot rather than a 2 in the magazine?

take the magazine tube cap off , pull out the stamped plug that is in the end of the tube and pull the plug out. when you put the stamped plug back into the tube reverse it from the way it was in originally. that way if you ever need to put the plug back in for some hunting regulations all you have to do is undo the cap , pull the plug and then put the cap back on

you should be able to get it out with a screwdriver or a needle nose pliers. it shouldn't be very tight or at least they didn't used to be very tight

If you destroy the spring retainer, do not sweat it. None of my 870's use the retainer anymore as I shoot in the rain quite often and I got tired of prying the dang thing loose to clean and dry the mag tube. It will not matter one whit to the gun. You just need to be careful when you remove the mag cap so as not to launch the spring.

I too have some with/without and it doesn't matter to the weapon. You learn about the cap launch by experience, don't you?

Got the little bugger out, it was very easy thank you for the replies. I also took the barrel off and cleaned it. Then I took the barrel of my 590-a1 and cleaned that as well.
