For current production, it would have to be my Sig P938. It's the softest shooting 9mm for CCW and is my most-often carried handgun for single stacks. Accuracy is surprising and I couldn't be more satisfied. The S&W 3913 would give it the biggest challenge as it's still quite concealable, but is the top for range shooting and just simply enjoyable.

Price-wise, the Kahr CM9 is my favorite single-stack for CCW.

As much as I love the P6/P225 9mm, if I was considering a current production SA/DA, it would likely be the P239. Large for a single stack and CCW, but that size of Sig shoots like a gem.

I have handled an EMP 9mm and love how it feels in the hand. If I was wanting a larger sized 1911 (vice my Sig P938), I would give the EMP a strong consideration.

For now, my choice would be the Sig P928 (Equinox version with the combo tritium/fiber front sight which is excellent).

Glock 43 for me. I had the Shield, really liked it, but kept the Glock. It's just a good fit for me. I looked hard at several others, but just kept coming back to the Glock 43.

I will pick the one I picked: Sig P290rs. I wouldn't call it the best but it satisfies more of my wants/needs in a small single stack 9 than any other I considered. There are several others I like, though, the 938, the Glock 43, the PPS M2, the MK9, and so on. I settled on the 290 and am very happy with it.

I just got a Sig P239 SAS Gen 2. Love it but it's too big to consider in the same class, IMO.

Definitely the Sig P290RS. I don't care about it's growing pains or whatever issues it had when it launched. I've never had an issue with mine, it's more accurate than I could ever be and heavy enough to be pleasant for a day at the range.

If I could only have one single stack 9, but can still have other guns (just not other single stack 9s), easy...

I'm already going that basic direction. I'm keeping my SIG P290RS for some very limited situations, but I mostly like larger double stack guns for CCW and home defense. I would be tempted to sell even that and maybe get a larger Kahr K9 or maybe the "large" Kahr T9 if only allowed one (though in reality I will likely eventually do that in addition to my P290).

I picked up a 290 for my wife a couple years ago and it has been a peach. I'm not real big on newer Sigs but it's much more accurate and reliable than it should be for it's size.

My Ruger 1911 LW Commander in 9mm. Just can't beat the overall rightness of a 1911 pattern handgun, then pair it with a light recoiling caliber such as 9mm. The combination of ergonomics, accuracy, point-abillity, and that 1911 trigger, just spells perfect. And perfectly fun as well.

If I had a WC version, I'd probably choose that one, but since I don't . . .

Walther PPS, either the classic or m2.

I went thru the same question when I first was choosing my single stack for carry, and I considered SIG p938 (which my wife chose for her carry pistol), the glock 43, and smith and Wesson Shield (primary alternative choice). I just didn't like the glock (too snappy even in 9mm when I shot it, and I just am not a glock fan), the Sig is awesome, but a little small for my hands, and I just really don't like the Shield's 2 point trigger. Chose PPS and love it. It's definitely fun to take to the range, and I was gifted the m2 by my dad and have grown to like and carry that one just as much.

I'd go with the Walther PPS 9mm 100%.

I carry current production striker fired sub compact double stack or single stack pistols. In general, they all are lite and comfortable to carry and in most cases very reliable. However, for the one gun theme the Poster described, I would drag out my favorite gun of all time, my S&W 3913NL.

XDS in 9mm. Can add a larger magazine with grip extension for the home or range. Comes with good sights and is compact enough for concealed carry.

So I went through the thread and I haven't found a single Taurus, so I guess I'm first: PT709. I went with it 5+ years ago because it fit my budget, but it also felt good in my hand. It was a real SOB to find mags for a long time there, but that has since become less of an issue. It's also super thin and I have never had any issue concealing it *easily* even in summer clothes. I also feel confident in it out to 25 yds. I'm putting more rounds in it and I'd like to push that out farther, though I'm not really sure how much farther I can go with the short little barrel.

I've been carrying a SW Shield for a few years and really like the gun. But, yesterday while at the range I got my hands on a Walther PPS-M2 and fell in love with the gun. I didn't get to shoot it, but wow, I was impressed with everything about the gun. Racking the slide is beautiful! And the grip, best I've ever held. I liked it so much I am considering selling the Shield and replacing it with the PPS-M2.

9mm Shield for me. Very accurate, satisfactory trigger right out of the box, very manageable recoil, shoots like a larger pistol.

At the current low prices & w/the S&W rebate, nothing else comes close (I bought my LE 9mm Shields w/night sights & 3 mags for $331 OTD after rebate).

If not currently produced, then the Steyr Hahn M1912 is pretty fun to shoot (although not the best for CCW)

Probably also the XD-S, too. This encompasses all of your needs if you think it would work.
