Make no mistake!
A Taurus is not a Beretta. Not even close in quality. I'd never trust my life, or that of a loved one, with a Taurus. Beretta is a true world-class handgun. Taurus doesn't even rate.

Have you owned a Taurus PT-92 or 99? They are actually just as good as Beretta and the early models, pre 1990 were made with better steel and didn't have the slide fracturing issues Beretta did.
I have a PT-99 and it is just as good a shooter, just as smooth a slide as my 3 Beretta's. Now, any other gun other than their early revolvers I would agree with you on. OP, I would go Beretta. I also have a CZ-75BD Police and a SP-01 Tactical. They are awesome guns but most will find the triggers need work to be really smooth. It's easy to do with about $100 worth of parts from Cajun Gun Works. Beretta's owned, M9 Army Commerative, 92A1, and a M9A1 Compact. |

@2123
Have you ever owned a Taurus 92 or are you just bashing? I will give Beretta a slight edge on fit and finish but it's not as big a gap as you might think. I own a 92 and 99 Taurus, and Inox Beretta 92. I carry the Taurus 99, It shoots just as well as the Beretta and the safety is where I think it should be. I would not recommend one over the other, but for most people the major difference is going to come down to the location of the safety. The Taurus is a perfectly legit choice. |

I think the PT92 is one of the guns Taurus did right on. They took the Beretta design(and tools) and improved on it. I like the safety location a lot better on the Taurus than the Beretta. I was thinking about buying a PT92 in stainless, they're sub $400 online and majority of the reviews are excellent.

The CZ75 and Beretta 92 are both very proven pistols. Either could work great for you. By far your best bet would be try each out and see if one works better than the other for you.
One thing I don't like about CZ is you have the option of either a safety or a decocker but not both like you can get with a Beretta. You asked for other possible suggestions. My two favorites are the SIG P226 and HK P30L.

I like the Beretta 92 FS Compact but it's really a full size. So I would say get the full size instead. Easy to rack. Superb safety /decocker you learn to appreciate. The location seems logical and convenient to me. I don't get that objection. Nice trigger. Never shot a CZ, but really like the Tristar clones I've seen. They do not have a decocker, but you get used to whatever eventually. CZ's decocker is nowhere as good as Beretta but it is an elegant pistol in its own right and fits the hand a lot better. Examples vary of course, and practice evens the score, but the Beretta may be easier to shoot accurately at first.

You won't be 100% happy until you get both. So stop fighting it. Get one now and when more funds become available, get the other one.
That's how most of us ended up with a lot of guns. |

The 92FS is for big hands. (a great full size pistol)
If you have smaller hands, try a FN Browning Hi-Power. If you have larger hands try a FNX-45, or FNX-9. Have you shot a Five seveN ? |

Plus I wanted a different gun to shoot. I really enjoy my Glock but instead of getting another one, I'd like to add some more variety to my collection. |

Luckily the local gun shop has both guns in stock I was looking after. After talking back and forth for a while and handling each gun I purchased the Beretta 92a1 and could not be happier. Thank you for all the reply's and advice and we will see how long before there is another "New Gun Itch" hahaha

I currently own the CZ75 SP-01 Shadow Target II and a CZ75 Tactical Sport. Owned a Wilson Beretta 92G. Never warmed to the Beretta. Also, owned a Beretta in .380ACP and its kissing cousin the Browning. Didn't warm to them either. Not to say Beretta's are not good pistols; they are. Just didn't seem to fit me, nor shoot as accurately as I expected.
Love CZs. They're a little rougher finished than some others I can name. But, they always work, are very accurate and there's a multitude of aftermarket parts so you can customize them to your needs and/or desires. The Shadow seems to fit me better than the Tactical Sport. However, I shoot the TS much more accurately. And, it's less expensive. Furthermore, the TS doesn't have a rail, which I dislike on pistols (purely a personal thing). If I were doing it again, I'd pass on the Shadow. It's good, but not as good as the TS in my hands. Have never had any problems with either the Beretta's, or the CZs. I've run all kinds of ammo thru them from really cheap steel to match grade. It's a personal thing. Pick what you like. Hopefully, you'll have an opportunity to handle and shoot both before buying. |

You won't go wrong with either the CZ75 platform or the Beretta 92. I have both and would not part with either.
I give the CZ the edge, but that's just me.
