Winchester model 54 safety conversion
Is there anyone that still makes a lower profile safety for the Winchester model 54? Is there a conversion to a model 70-type safety, that would be more scope-friendly?

I seriously doubt anyone would make a safety conversion for a rifle that was last produced 70 years ago. I don't know if a Model 70 bolt shroud would fit, but I can take a look tomorrow and post on here. You could probably modify a M98 safety conversion if you were determined to go that route.

OK, I checked my M54 and it has a Buehler low safety on it. In case you decide to use a M70 bolt shroud and safety, it looks like those will fit (pre-war M70 at least, that's what I have).

Thanks Scorch. And then there were these: http://edlapourgunsmithing.com/3-pos...chester-m5470/
....but I don't think they are making them anymore. It's for my brother's model 54 Carbine. If it were up to me, I would just put a receiver sight on it and call it good. |
