Gave my one & only "hi-cap" handgun (an SR9) to my son several years ago. Replaced it with an SR45 which is a 10+1.

I currently carry a .45 ACP with 7 + 1 and before this it was a full sized 1911 with 7 + 1 so no change will have any effect on my carry and while the below is pictured with additional magazines I seldom carry it. My other common carry is a 2" Model 10 so again it wouldn't matter in my case.

I would continue to carry my Glock 26, but I would need to remove my +2 floorplates. Of course, I would need to pick up some grip extensions in order to maintain a full 3-finger grip.

I've been picking up grip extensions for my 26s lately.
Need to get more mags for those pistols.
They are strong candidates if I had to drop down to 10 rounds.

I've contemplated the G26 (or G27), if our benighted state ends up with magazine capacity limits.

Actually handling one though... The Glock 19 for me has a 2.5 finger grip. The G26 size grip is for me very short. I would need a pinky extender type baseplate.

May still end up getting one.

I carried Glock 26/27/30SF appendix IWB when I incorrectly thought those were the biggest size pistol I could effectively conceal.

Glock 26/27 with Pearce +0 mag base offers room for my pinky without the variable of potentially reducing mag spring force.

If 10 round limit, Glock 30SF/30S maximizes capacity and caliber.

There are so many smart-aleck responses to this. Too bad you stipulated.

Idk. Something worse than what I have now probably. Because 10 rounds isn’t enough. I want as many as I can squeeze in the gun. I don’t like reloading. Too many things can go wrong. That lesson has been learned by cowboys, lawmen, and soldiers all over the globe.

I would keep carrying my Ruger P90 or 1911. I would feel perfectly fine with nine rounds of .45 Auto and a Charter Arms Undercover (.38 Special) in a coat pocket or on an ankle.

If the law were to limit us to 10 rounds then the 1911 and variants would make a big comeback along with other single stack configurations.

Maybe, if it comes to it, instead of a total ban, larger capacity would require an age restriction or a permit as do silencers.

But I would like something similar to the Ruger 9mm American. I like my Glock 19 and my Springfield XDM Mod 2 but without the double stack grip thickness.

It would be a debate between my G26 with +0 pearce baseplates and going back to a 1911, possibly in 9mm.

Lets hope it never comes to that, my 19X is a fine carry gun.

I'd see .40-Short & Wimpy having a resurgence just like it did under Clinton's AWB.

I don't know. I would certainly try to move up to a.40 just because I have no need for a double stack nine and a .40 is OBVIOUSLY going to have a better chance of causing lethal damage. If I find that I don't feel right with the new gun I will just go back to using the nine.

Now, I wonder if this has been considered?

What are the penalties regarding carrying an over capacity magazine? A $50 fine? jail time, prison time, excommunication from the church?

I am asking this question very seriously. The laws will probably not ban guns that hold double stacks, they never have, to my knowledge. they have only banned the 'obscenely high capacity magazines'. Will I start carrying a ten round magazine for every day, low risk situations such as visiting my brother in law's house or the barber? Will I then also carry a couple of full capacity magazines to the church of satan when I go there?

It's going to be a choice of whether I want to risk criminal charges for carrying an unapproved weapon or risk dying a terrible death because I didn't have enough bullets when the hordes of angry ninjas come after my groceries.

This thread popped up in my notifications again.

Preparing for another road trip out-of-state this summer. This time I've decided to take my CS45 (3.25"; 6rd mags) as my "road" LEOSA weapon, and a couple of smaller pocketable options. I'm thinking of taking one of my 5-shot snubs for normal pocket carry, and one of my NAA .22's as a "Onion Field/hideout" type secondary.

I used the CS45 a little while ago for my annual LEOSA qual, along with one of my M&P 340's. Both the CS45 and the .38 snub put the hits right where I looked, both 1 & 2-handed.

Admittedly, the CS45 does have a smaller capacity magazine than my last issued compact .45, which used 7rd magazines.

I think the '94 Clinton AWB was a significant stimulant to the resurrection of the 1911s popularity and also helped with acceptance of the .40 S&W. I don't see why history wouldn't repeat itself.

If I were a man I would carry my little "always reliable" .38 spl snubbie. But since I am a woman who doesn't like to wear a gun on a holster (visible) or carry a purse large enough to carry one or carry anything heavier than like 1 lb (loaded), I like something for IWB and my little Taurus PT22 fills the bill very nicely. I feel quite safe with it. And the .38 feels quite safe on my nightstand. Also, it fits in my purse very well and isn't heavy at all.

Would do what I usually do now when not availing myself of a 15 - 18 round 9mm pistol. - Use a 1911 .45, .44 spl revolver, or a .357 2.5” to 6” revolver.

The anti 2nd amendment fools do not appreciate that a move, as described by the OP, would lead to more concealable designs holding more than traditional # of rounds (sig’s new pistol) or the development of more powerful cartridges in smaller packages.

Welcome, WestTex. It looks like many gun laws are written with specific ignorance towards guns, how guns work, how crime or terrorism actually play out, the realities of self defense, technology, economics, etc. Guns like the Judge or the NY-legal AR are good examples of above-the-table innovation in response to such laws.

As per the original question, does anyone carry a Judge somewhere with a magazine restriction? Might you if your state passed one?
