Saiga AK47 muzzle break
I am interested in a converted Saiga AK47. I would like to know if the muzzle break is permanently attached or if it can be changed? If not, any complaints about the break? Thank you.

It depends on which Saiga. Some have the front end converted already, others don't. Can you post a link to which one you're looking at?

That looks like a thread protector. Its not a brake.
How long is the barrel? If its not pinned and welded, it should come off, and a proper brake can be put on. If it is pinned and welded, and the barrel is shorter than 16", then youll have to have the brake pinned and welded in place. If its 16" and over, you can just replace it, as long as that doesnt violate any of your state laws. This is my Saiga conversion with its brake. It has a 14" barrel, so the brake is permanently installed..... |

Thats just the muzzle... there's no brake or threads involved.

Correct; there's no threads. It can be easily changed with a hammer and a punch. Just buy a threaded FSB, knock that one out, then install the new FSB and muzzle break of your choice. I recommend buying a couple new pins just in case; I've seen them get pretty marred up because the Izhmash factory sometimes presses them in pretty tight.

Thank you Plouffedaddy. I did a search and found this link
http://dinzagarms.com/downloads/308_fsb_install.pdf with the instructions on how to replace the FSB for a .308 Saiga. I assume that it should be similar for 7.62 x 39. |

That's a good little diagram/how to instruction sheet. Yup, the process is the same.
