Have yet to use a powder more consistent and accurate than H322. In my bolt .223 it produces truly excellent results. For my Siaga, H335 works quite well.

I use H335 for 55 and rl-15 for 69, both with great results making me hesitant to bother changing.

Still curious however, about Alliants newer AR-Comp powder....anyone tried it and found it to be better than the other usual powders?

Has anybody tried Hodgdons CFE-223 yet?

I have a couple of pounds of Reloder 12 (and can't get any more), 8 pounds of AA2520, and one pound each of AA2495 and Varget. And I think I have some Data 85. Most of these are for loading .30-06, but I'm just starting to reload .223's. All I have right now is flat-based 55 grain bullets, so probably start with the Varget?

When I get some SS109 bullets (62 grain) I'll try the 2520.

I heard acouple guys tried thr CFE 223 and were OK with it at this point, one guys rifle grouped very good with it. ( 3 shots 3/8" MOA 100 yds). I have not tried it yet but plan on it. At present I shoor Benchmark with 52 gr HPBT very easy to work with and very accurate.

I went to Cabela's yesterday and looked for CFE223 and TAC -- they were out of TAC, and didnt list CFE yet. So I got the pound of Varget cuz I had to buy something.

I currently use H335 for 55-65gr. bullets and Tac when I load anything heavier. I have used W748 in the past and its very good powder as well.

One thing to remember when you are evaluating which powder works;Groups will often open up with a powder change until the bore stabilizes.
You might try cleaning and a few fouling shots to give your sample a fair test

For 55 grain bullets H-335 is king in my book. It gives better than exelent groups out of several rifles that I have shot it in. My Savage will shoot half MOA on a crappy day using a load of 25.0 grains of H-335 using CCI 400 small rifle primers, and a 55 grain Hornady V-Max bullet. The only limit to the groups not being one single tiny hole is me doing the shooting.

For heavier bullets AA2230, Reloader 15, and Varget all give great results. I am still trying to get some 2230 to try with some 68 grain HPBT match bullets. Though I have had great results with Varget, and Rl15 with heavier bullets. For the 68 Varget gives slightly better, and more consitant groups. For 75 grainers Rl15 edges past the Varget by a slight hair.

I've got a Ruger Hawkeye with a 1 in 9 twist and it will shoot the Sierra 65 grain Gamekings into half an inch with AA2230 powder. Love the bullet and love the powder (meters great). I tried Varget, H335, 3031 and 4064 and it shot Ok but not great.
