Among duty-sized guns, I shoot the Glock 17 and Glock 19 the best.

Which really doesn't make a lot of sense, because I like neither the trigger feel or grip ergonomics of the Glock pistols.

But for some reason, they just work for me.

Lot of factors, but probably most important is trigger break. Cooper used to say it should break like the snapping of a glass rod. A surprise break is supposed to be conducive to good accuracy.

I don't think there is a pistol design that has a trigger that is as good, or the potential to be made very good, as the 1911.

I know this is a "Who is buried in Grant's tomb" answer, but hands down I will always shoot better with a target pistol. The Benellis' in both center-fire and rim-fire shoot great. For a standard target pistol, the tried and true High Standards shoot terrific. Other personal favorites are the FAS 602 and 603 rim-fire and center-fire respectively. There are many other good ones but these stand out in memory at this time.

It's a tie right now. I used to have a standard Glock 21 Gen 3 that I shot exceptionally well, even for me. My current go to semi is my Sig P320 in 9mm.

I think it was because the the Glock 21 fit my hand perfectly that I shot it so well. Go figure, the blockiest Glock fit my hand the best. Couldn't shoot a 17 or a 19 as well as it.

Whereas the P320 has trigger that makes it very easy to shoot well.

Ruger Charger Takedown. But for a more traditional gun, High Standard HD Military, and Browning Buckmark

I was shocked, but yea. My recently acquired CDP Ultra II. .45. Prior to that it was the M&P that I've got a bazillion rounds through. Something about that 1911.

I have to agree. I have a lot of pistols, and my Bulgarian Makarov is extremely accurate even with Tula ammo.

Another really accurate pistol is my Bersa Thunder .380.

I'm not any sort of "Bullseye" shooter with a pistol, but with these two I feel like I shoot pretty well.

It was the SW1911 for the longest time but the CZ P-07 is hard to beat. Makes me look a lot better than I am.

CZ P-07 and 75B along with my FNX all shoot great imho. Especially for me because im in no way a champion shooter. I do have to say, embarrassing as it is my 2 top shooting handguns period are Rock Is 1911 tactical in 9mm and a Heritage Rough Rider steel frame "Johnny Boy" Both guns added together new would be less than any one of the others listed. Thats odd but is what it is.

I have a few pistols i havent shot yet or not but a handful of rounds through starting my break in so that might change. One is a Canik TP9 SFX that i hope to shoot well enough to attempt competing with it.

Hands down, without hesitation or reservation, the Colt Government Model in 45 ACP. I owned a number of them, and other Colt variations such as Commanders and Officer's ACPs, but I shot the Government Model best.

In .22LR it's my 35 year old HS Victor. In centerfire it's my 1911s.

Glock 40 MOS with a Leupold Deltapoint Pro 2.5 MOA red dot optic.

Can hit 12" x 12" steel plate at 150 yards and 36" x 36" steel plate at 300 yards easy as pie.

At 7 -15 yards, its one ragged hole.

The only modifications to the pistol are a 25 cent trigger job and 7" KKM barrel.

In centerfire, believe it or not, a Hi-Point, C-9. Of course I probably shot it more than any other single non-rimfire, gun I've ever owned. Didn't matter what kind of ammo I used, Blazer, WWB, Rem-Umc, American Eagle, range reloads...it just shot a nice tight group in the center of the target. I had installed the "ghost ring" sight that came in the box. I don't know how much that mattered, but it didn't hurt. Now, I freely admit that I was only shooting at seven yards, but that was all that was available at the range I used back then.

That gun surprised me. It just chugged along.

Easily my DW VBob, followed by the rest of my 1911s.

For doublestacks, Glock 17 by a landslide. Gen 4 with the medium beavertail feels like my hand was the model for the mold.

Guns certainly don't make the shooter but better guns help make good shooters better. Always have and always will. Really good shooters will always take advantage of guns that will help them shoot more accurately. Ask Bullseye competitors on the line at Camp Perry, for instance, how important better trigger pulls are in terms of helping them shoot better scores.

Thank you. You are exactly right. It is good to watch someone who is truly skilled with a firearm so that you can see what they are capable of with a real target pistol. Below is a pic of my free pistol and it does make a good shooter better.
