Sig 522 Tight Mag Help - Folding stock - positioning lock blocks

I did a bit of looking and tore my stock apart. No it wasnt a big deal but like myself a few others had no clue what the extra black plastic blocks did that came with the 522.
Now that I know what they do I figured out how to install them.
I made a quick webpage with images and a little info to help. I hope this helps.

The web page is www.sigpower.com/522/522.html

My wording or terms may not be right but I think you can understand.

Also
For those with TIGHT Sig 522 LR mags:
I have found an easy and cheap way to make them fit better. They are about 7-8 thousands to thick.
Mine now drop when the mag release is pushed in.

What I did:
Take the magazine apart. Depress the small tab and slide the red base plate out.
Pull the red plug and spring out the bottom and the red follower will also come out. Pull this slow and gently.
Then use an allen wrench and remove the 6 screws that hold the two halves of the plastic magazine together.
Pull the two halves apart and take note you will feel small tabs sticking up on one half and see holes that match their location on the other half.

You want the half with the holes NOT the half with the location tabs (pins)

I used some 80 grit sand paper to start with the sandpaper on a flat surface such as a table. I laid the half with the location holes on top of the sandpaper and began to sand back n forth by pulling the magazine half back n forth.

As you do this a few time you will see areas the sandpaper is not hitting. You need to sand this down until you see all the surfaces have been hit by the sandpaper.

The amount needed is about as thick as 1-2 sheets of paper. Do his a few minutes and check. No need to screw the magazine halves together. Just hold them tight and test fit in the gun until your happy with the fit.

This took me about 5 mins with firm pressure. I am sure those who have a sanding belt and or sanding block can do this faster. Just go slow and take small amounts off keeping the surface level until you get the fit you want.

Clean the dust off and reassemble your magazine.

Also make sure to put a VERY light coat of oil on the spring and the screws.

Dave
I am glad your 10/22 works well and I agree the mags should work out of the box. This was just a easy fast way to fix the issue. And it isnt all the mags out there for the 522 just some.
