Looking for a full or midlength ar-15..
Looking to get a new ar, but I want something different than a 6920. I prefer colt or lmt.
I like the colt hbar full length w/ compensator. However, it does not have a flat top for optics. Thoughts? Are "commercial" colts as well built as the LE models?

The Colt 6920 is MilSpec... what is it about the 6920 that you dislike? The 6920 is the standard by which others aspire. If you prefer to be different but still want one heck of a rifle and MilSpec to boot, slap together a BCM upper, LMT lower with a SOPMOD, and a BCM BCG. $900-1,000 last time I calculated and the quality is top notch.

I should have mentioned that the reason I do not want a 6920 is that I have two already .

Hehe, good man. My suggestion of a BCM LMT still stands then. BTW, what is your projected budget?

Having built a bunch of ARs, I just can't fathom the infatuation with Colt! There are just too many good ARs around that can be had for less $$. I've never seen a Colt @ our local range that would outshoot my pedestrian ol' Bushy Shorty!
Good buy on RRA flattops @ Adco right now. |

Well BCM is the best middy around IMO, sure there maybe some that are also excellent quality but the value of BCM can't be beat IMO.

Yeah it's hard to beat BCM for a middy, you know they're going to be good. I will say though that my new ArmaLite middy upper is nearly as good and about $150 less. I'm very impressed with what you get for $500 - a complete and testfired upper.

I voted with my wallet - BCM middy. G&R will sell you a complete BCM middy or a BCM upper and a BCM lower.

Smart move... it's so great that even thinking with your wallet that you still come out ahead as those that didn't think with their wallet seeing as how BCM rivals some costing alot more.
