Tennessee Hunting
I may be moving some time in the next year and Tennessee is high on the list.
Any Tennessee hunters care to share their "pro's and con's" concerning hunting in the Volunteer State? Thanks. Jay |

TN
I'm an AL resident, but live very close to the AL/TN line, namely Wayne Co TN. I have never hunted TN, but it is a fairly common practice for folks here to buy a TN non-resident license and hunt both states. Some, even though AL residents, will hunt just in TN.
Hunting clubs, or leases, are common in both states. Wayne Co has I believe 2 public land WMA's and my impression of the TWRA (TN wildlife resources agency) and their staff has always been positive. Limits are generous. If it matters, much of TN has trout.......a plus in my book. |

You really need to be more specific about WHERE in TN. West, central, and east Tennessee are like 3 very different states with very different geography, customs, and hunting methods.
There are mountains with lots of trout, bear and wild hogs in the east in addition to small mountain deer. Western TN is flat, lowland farm country with lots of waterfowl hunting and big bucks. Middle TN is a plateau with a mix of both.

I'd choose Alabama over Tenn. Coosa River, Tennessee River, and Black Warrior River reservoirs are superior. Many hunting clubs, WMAs and National Forest lands. If you hunt Hogs, Alabama is your Huckleberry.

Thanks for the replies. We will likely end up in east Tennessee.
Trout fishing sounds great to me! I may have to sneak into Alabama for some hog action, as well... |
