Which upper is better?
I have a DPMS Oracle that I want to find a 22 or 24 inch bull barrel for. I have found 2 within my price range. One is a DPMS upper and the other is a CMMG upper I have added links for both. Which one do you guys think is better? Anyone have experiance with either of these uppers? Any help is greatly appreciated, even if you have a different brand in the same price range.

I see that the rifling is 1:7. What grain bullets will that shoot the best? Right now I shoot 55 grain nosler ballistic tips.

I'd second Mad's recommendation.
1:7 will shoot anything just fine IMO, but if you're just going to be shooting 50 grain rounds it isn't really necessary, 1:8 and 1:9 work just fine. 1:7 only really stands out when you're pushing heavier bullets (70gr+) and looking for superior accuracy. |

I have a RRA 1 in 8 twist and it loves the Speer Semi spitzer 70 grainer. I reload my own w/IMR 4895. It's not a fan of the 55grainers tho for some reason. Need to experiment with diff powders on that one.

1:7 is really for LONGER bullets, not necessarily heavier; although generally the heavier are the longer.... okay I'm rambling...

In my opinion:
PSA > CMMG > DPMS |

I put together a 24" DPMS stainless HB upper. It has a 1:9 twist barrel and an aluminum float tube. It has shot numerous 5 shot ragged one hole groups at 100 yds. This has been done with a 20X power scope.
Mine likes light weight Sierra Match King bullets and my handloads. Nail |
