ever ruin a brass frame Remington by shooting heavy loads?
Has anyone here ever ruined a brass frame .44 1858 clone by shooting heavy loads? What loads will it stand a steady diet of?

Heard of a guy that put a conversion cylinder in a brass Remington, bent the frame in three rounds. I would think a brass frame Remington could handle a steady diet of 22-25 grs. I have a brass Buffalo that I use a 22gr load in and no problems so far.

How many grains does it take to fill the cylinder, so there is only room to seat the ball?

I have a brass framed .36 Remington and was using 25 grs. of Pyrodex and conicals. After 4 cylinders full you could barely see where the cylinder ratchet was starting to imprint the recoil shield. |
