Burr in new AR Barrel

I just received my new upper assembly, complete with ER Shaw 20" stainless bull barrel. While cleaning for the first time to get ready to break it in, I noticed the cleaning patch would "catch" on something in the barrel at the gas block location. When I look into the barrel with a light, I can see a burr around the gas port opening, it appears to be from when the hole was drilled. I am afraid to shoot the rifle with this in there. Any suggestions on how I can remove this? Is this normal?

Call ER Shaw. They made the barrel, they need to deburr it.

Shoot it. That's how it gets deburred. I tend to wonder if it was test fired at the factory.

I would think that depending on the sze and shape of the burr, it may never shoot well if you dont remove it properly. Shooting a bullet into a burr may turn it into an elongated gouge that may never shoot right again. I'd call the manufacturer and see what they say.

Shoot it to get the burr out. That is how the factories who build complete rifles do it.

Honestly - just shoot it and your burr will be gone... It is nearly impossible to drill the gas port without leaving a burr and there is no way to debur the interior side of the gas port, other than shooting the rifle.

The hot gas in the barrel along with the bullet ripping past the gas port will make short work of the burr.
