.32 S&W Long OAL???

I'm in the seating stage of reloading .32 S&W Long. Bullets are Hornady 71 gr. .311 FMJ/RN. My Lyman book can only get close to OAL with a 77 gr. bullet and it states 1.115
My Accuload Program states 1.280 OAL.
At 1.140 the seated bullet is more that 50% inside the case and just looks way to deep. This is the deepest I've gone so far. Using the Accuload stats, the bullet seems barely in the case at 1.250

Any help or comments in bullet depth. Additional information: Using Unique and will try some SR-4756, bullets and powder is what I have on hand at the moment. Heavier (longer)bullets are on order.

I did not write down an OAL for my 32 S&W Long. I must have seated the bullets to the crimp groove. I purchased commercial cast bullets, loaded them to the crimp, shot them over a chronograph, and that was pretty much it.

I found Bullseye an excellent powder in the 32 S&W Long. I tested Unique with 100 grain bullets (advertized as 98 grains) and it shot well. .

Appreicate the reply. I've been searching the web, reading reloading books and have found nothing. Only thing I know to do is seat at 1.210 this is over the least depth and not over the max. My bullets do not have a crimp groove for a guide.

With the 71 gr FMJs, you're just going to have to guess.

Try to get as much tension as possible, but there's no point in seating past the ogive (unless you want to roll crimp in front of the ogive).
