I want to use something that wont harm the finish...do they have plastic..uh.."things" to use with a hammer?

I've used chinese restaurant wood chopsticks...never a mar or scratch in ten or so years. Just shorten them to about a two inch length...
I'm sure Brownells has a more sophisticated set of brass or nylon drifts you can buy |
