Hammer Fire 9mm

What are some choices for a Hammer Fired 9mm for less than $500.00 NIB? Would most people consider the Ruger P series the best in this class? Are there smaller ones?

This gun would be mainly for plinking and nightstand duty with the possiblity of occasional carry IWB.

Thanks

yeah the CZ Rammi is nice, but they are going for closer to $600 here than $500 and $500 is already pushing it. I would honestly like to keep it in the 400-450 range.

Thanks

Buds has the Rami for $442 with free shipping. You can easily order it to an FFL for under $500.

400-450 will net a Stoeger Cougar, which is a lot of gun for the money.

Beretta PX4 or Stoeger Cougar come to my mind. Although for right around $300 the Ruger P95 is a great gun as well

Definitely not, though the P95 is a great gun.

I've seen Stoeger Cougars for $365 in my area, and I've seen the Beretta PX4 occasionally dip under $500 during a sale. You would be very hard-pressed to find a more refined gun than the Cougar at that price, and the PX4 doesn't take a backseat to any of the other polymer-framed pistols, as far as I'm concerned. Fit and finish and overall quality are superb.

CZ had a sale a few weeks ago where a stainless 75 was $498 and the black polycoat was $448. I have the sp-01 and it's an amazing 9mm, but it was about $600.

+1 for a cz pistol. They are very very good pistols.

I'm a Ruger fan in this regard. I have a P89 that is a joy to shoot. Probably 10 years old when I bought it, and still driving tacks.

My buddy bought a P95 at a gun show and it's an awesome slightly smaller 9mm. I really enjoy shooting it.

I'm sold enough on the Ruger DA/SA autos that I think my next handgun is going to be a 345.

The P-series is certainly in your price point.

Occasionally Bud's will have Beretta 92's available for <$500. They have Italian models available right now for $525 shipped. Once you factor in the free shipping I'd consider that "within budget".

http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...ducts_id=39954

Otherwise, they've got Beretta PX4 Storm's available right now for $483 shipped. That's a lot of gun for the money and if I was looking for a hammer fired 9mm under $500 that's where I'd start.

http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...ducts_id/18155

As has already been suggested, the Sig Pro 2022 is also an amazing buy at $399 shipped. If you don't like Berettas that's the best alternative you're going to find in this price range.

http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...ducts_id/69931

You can get the Sig Pro 2022 with night sights for only $50 more ($447) as well.

Quick Edit:
One more that I just found. They have CZ75B's in the duo-tone model for $483 shipped as well. If you wanted an all metal gun that would also be an excellent choice.

If you're willing to get a used gun, you should look at the 3rd Generation Smith & Wessons. They've always been somewhat unappreciated. They are some really good ones out there in your price range. You may even still be able to find some new ones around. The 3913, 6906, 5906, 908 are just a few that come to mind. I picked up this 6906 a couple of years ago still new in the box for under $500. It's a great piece.

My first handgun was a P95 and I still have it. Loved it when I bought it, still love it now. Slightly thick/bulky for IWB carry though I would think. It shoots like a dream though and will eat ANY ammo you put through it with no complaints.
