Spent a brisk and sunny Sunday participating in the Bull Run Shooting Center's 6th Annual Battle of Bull Run (Sporting Clays) in Centerville, Virginia. The event consisted of 12 to 13 stations (I lost count) with each person firing 100 rounds during the day.

Sporting clays is still all new to me so I ended up shooting more leaves and tree bark then anything else. But it was still alot of fun. Official results will be mailed out later this week.

Some stations I did very well, others I missed all the birds. At one station I don't believe I've seen clay targets fly that fast. Possibly with the exception of International Trap. However, those station's targets were crossing right to left, not going straight out like traps. Missed them all, but give me an "A" for effort.

Lessons learned today: keep both eyes open, need a larger selection of chokes, relax, and follow through with my shots. Hopefully with enough practice with sporting clays, I'll start hitting more than I miss.

I reported on the Iron Man shot a few weeks ago: wobble trap, skeet, double skeet, trap, 5-stand, and sporting clays (250 rounds fired). Overall official results, out of 60 shooters I finished 3rd from last. Well at least I beat two others. Oh well, I'm out there to have fun and make a few friends.

Next "fun" shoot is October 22nd, anyone interested in meeting out there?

Regards.
