Full power 10 mm in Glock 20

This morning I traded an extra Franklin Armory Binary trigger and magpul buttstockfor a like-new Glock 20 Gen 3, plus 3 mags. I know the guy and it had exactly 65 rounds down the pipe (excluding the two fired at the factory)....I already have a couple AR's fitted with binary triggers and paid $389 for this one so I feel I got the better end of this deal, but he would say the same.

I have been loading 40 s&w for a long time now, but have never made any 10 mm. I will probably buy new dies so that I don't have to change my 40 setup on the xl 650. I will likely load the 10 mm on the RL 550C since I won't shoot it as much as my 40's.

I want to developed two loads. The first load I want to be a high velocity plinker. The second I want to be a full power 200 gr thumper.

Anyone have any experience with powders/bullets in this cartridge? Especially in the G20? I'm going with new starline brass I think.

Thanks

Hahaha, I couldn't figure out "full lower", but now I've got it... full POWER.

800-X is a fantastic powder for getting full-nuts in 10mm but nobody with any tool has ever reported success in metering consistent charges of this powder, it's extremely hard to deal with. Many other powders are more friendly and consistent. I have made great loads with Accurate #7 and #9 and 2400, but if I were to narrow it down to two favorites it would be:

Power Pistol for lighter bullets and Hodgdon Longshot for heavier.

Stupid auto correct and a new phone with different shaped buttons are making me incomprehensible sometimes. Sorry.

I like long shot. It gives great velocity in 40 s&w too. Any bullet preference?

In 10mm specifically, I wouldn't say I have much of a preference, but only because I don't hunt, I never cared to carry handloads for defense... so most of my handloading and shooting with 10mm has been steel plates and paper at short distance. I've burned through many thousands of Precision Delta 180gr FMJ-FP.

I dabbled with about a thousand of the Nosler 150gr JHP - gorgeous bullet but I did not like, won't do again and cannot recommend. The issue? They were dimensionally slender, slim, skinny, pick whichever term sounds best -- they gave me case mouth tension/bullet pull issues in MANY different headstamps of brass. It was not a sizing nor flaring issue, it was definitely the slugs after exhaustive research and trial/error.

I would otherwise recommend the Hornady XTP for an accurate and quality expanding bullet, although I have only run a couple XTP's in 10mm. (180's)

BlueDot and 800x No need to look further. Doesn't really matter which press on which you load it.

I have used LONGSHOT and it's good as usual but I favor VihtaVuori N105 nowadays.

As far as bullets, the 180 Gold Dot is the most accurate I have shot and I have a nice load with the 200g Nosler HP with n105 @ 1200 from my Glock 20 that shoots well.

I've got a sweet load with a 230g Doubletap WFNGC bullet @ 1100 with n105 as well.

You'll like the 10mm. I am gravitating towards revolvers these days as I tire of chasing the brass from Auto's.

800x has the highest velocity but it doesn't meter consistently, I've had to weigh and trickle every charge, so I don't use it anymore.

My favorite full power load is AA9 under 180gr in my Glock 20 with a Lone Wolf long slide and 6" barrel. It's a little over book max.

My two favorite powders are VV N105 and AA9. The 200 Nosler JHP has shown good results but I tend to prefer Hornady's 200 gr XTP. My favorite overall combo is AA9 behind the 200 grain XTP. This combo has performed well in my G20 , S&W 610 , LAR grizzly 10mm conversion

My favorite is PowerPistol under 180 TCMJ Zero bullets. They are wonderful in my Commander length Fusion and my Witness full size.
