More about Taurus PT 22
So I've posted before about my PT 22 doing an unintended "double tap" with one trigger pull when I was engaged in rapid fire. Well, yesterday I was taking my time, aiming, definitely "slow" fire . . . and it did it again. One trigger pull, two shots.
I think I'll start with a thorough cleaning . . . . Life is good. Prof Yound |

Yeah, that's sounding like a mechanical issue...
Check the breech and bolt face for burrs, bumps, etc. Also check to make sure that the firing pin isn't hanging up in the slide channel.

I would think a stuck firing pin. I owned a PT 22, even carried it when I walked my daughter down the aisle. Thinking on how simple the gun is that must be the problem.

1. Send it back to Taurus. Don't fool with it yourself anymore.
2. Those guns have a very mixed reputation. Just saying that you might move on. Better pocket pistols out there nowadays. 3. Mine was a horror.

I'm keeping it because . . .
Thanks for all the thoughts. I'm keeping it because I got it for only $150 at an auction. It's been back to Taurus once for several problems, all of which they fixed and sent it back in under a month's time. It's fun to shoot, but I don't carry it. Since I got it back from Taurus it has run pretty well. Hangs up once in a while and I've had three occurrences of the unintentional double tap. So, I'll clean it good and see what happens.

I absolutely love my PT 22.
Been exceptionally reliable for me. With Winchester Wildcat, 0 failures to fire, 0 failures to eject, 0 failures to feed. CCI Blazer caused some issues apparently due to harder case material giving me about 15% failures to fire on the first trigger pull.

My PT22 was the best looking, worst performing pistol I ever bought.
It would detonate the primer about once for every three trigger pulls. When it did fire, it would jam. Finally, the bullets keyholed on a paper target about 15 feet out. Taurus fixed the feed and fire problems, but it still keyholed. Sold it with full disclosure. The Beretta Model 21a that replaced it is faultless.
