7mm 168 ABLR short range gel test

First the stats:

7mm rem mag
3155 mv
75 yards
18" penetration
75 gn recovered slug weight
.600" recovered slug dia.

I wanted to see how the performance was at a more common hunting range with these bullets. Based on the wound channel I'd say there's a good chance for some serious blood shot meat but the penetration is still very adequate. I have no doubt that whatever gets hit with this type of bullet at similar velocities is going to expire very quickly.

I have never used the long range version of the Accubond, but my friends and I have taken over 40 deer and moose with the 160 grain 7mm Accubond and they have always worked great. The bullets I have recovered and weighed have run between seventy and seventy-five percent weight retention. The ABLR should start to show an advantage over the standard Accubond at ranges over 400 yards which exceeds my comfort zone.
