stripping alluminum frame

I have a Beretta 92fs which has an alluminum frame, what is the coating that is covering the frame (looks like blue but it isn't), and how do I get it off.

It's anodized. Blast it off with alum. oxide blasting media.

Finish

Rule #1 for the “inexperienced gunsmith” Never do anything to the gun, which you do not have the knowledge or equipment to reverse.

The first and most important to remember the anodizing process converts the aluminum surface into an extremely hard, durable, corrosion resistant, long-lasting aluminum oxide finish.
If you blast it off you are removing the hardened surface.

My suggestion is to send it to a pro.
If not:
You could gun kote the frame.
Aluma Hyde it.
Neither of these would ruin the hardness.
