Swede 6.5X55 reload
Just picked up a new deer rifle and wondered if any of you have any good suggestions on loads for deer sized game. Not sure which grain bullet would do best in this caliper so would appreciate any help in the matter.

Yep. 140's with a load from your manual. My Lyman book gives IMR4320 as the accuracy powder for a 140 grain jacketed bullet. 39.0 to 43.0.
Hodgdon's site has lots of loads for the 6.5. You will have to work up a load for your rifle though. No two rifles will shoot the same ammo the same way. |

140 or 142 gr bullet
35.8gr Varget cci #34 primmer (#34 primmers are mil. spec., I have for my Garand and M-14 ,tried them in other sizes -303, 7.62X54R, 7.92X57- they work very good even in very cold temps.) ( Varget is not as temperature sensetive, hot or cold, as others I have tried) |

That being said I would think you could substitute the sierra 140 grain gameking and get near the same results for your deer load.
-I haven't tried that yet- CONSULT THE LOAD MANUAL FIRST and always approach the loads with caution- |

Need a stock!
Some great replies and it's appreciated everyone. It's going to take me awhile to get this worked out as the gun came shipped UPS and they handled it so bad that they busted the stock in the pistol grip so I have a claim in the works for a new stock. Anynody have any good idea's on places to purchase a nice sporter stock for one of these.

I thought I would do that first and at the same time get a feel for the long barrel, if I like long I will leave it that way.
