“I think about it all the time,” Ford said of the shootings that plague his community. “That’s why I’m working with a concealed carry instructor and we’re going to go through the neighborhood and we’re going to encourage people to get their concealed carry license because it makes no sense for people not to have the protections that they need.”

I have to admit, I didn’t see that coming...

I don't know if this is the case, but I am reminded of an old saying...

"the staunchest Law & Order conservative is a liberal who has been mugged..."

Encouraging ... but the title of the thread mentions "Anti-Gun Chicago Lawmaker." I didn't see anything in the article to suggest that Ford is anti-gun. What am I missing?

eh...I wouldn't say he's rabidly anti-gun...when he was running for Mayor of Chicago he did say this:

But back in 2010 he also said this.

He’s reliably Democratic on guns with the exception that he realizes that strict enforcement of Illinois gun laws ends up imprisoning poor people without disarming criminals.
