Remington Primer Question

What is the difference, if any, between Small Pistol Remington 1-1/2 primers and Remington 5-1/2 primers? Thanks for any replies.

Generally, pistol primers have thinner, softer cups because they are fired at lower pressures and need to work with less powerful firing pin blows. In a high power rifle you risk the pressure popping them, or the hard striking firing pin weakening them enough to pierce. Some prefer the rifle primers for high pressure pistol loads, too, particulary if they are fired in a rifle.
