Anyone interested in a primer trade?
well, i'm now too scared to use my Federal 210 primers. Would anyone be willing to trade me 1800 of these primers for CCI primers?
I've loaded 200 rounds so far, but now I'm afraid to go any farther w/ them. I only load for the M1 Garand. PM me if anyone is interested. Otherwise, I don't know what to do w/ them... |

Please explain why you are worried about these primers?
(If I was closer, I would trade you.)

Find a trading partner locally. Primers need to be shipped as hazmat, and that would cost more than what the primers are worth.

yes, vladan is correct. I'm worried about slamfires. I also should note that it would definitely be a FTF transfer, in the N. Texas area.

Before you rush off and dump a bunch of primers, shoot some of what you loaded.
Load one or two and see if you have a problem with slamfires. I am betting you won't. Geetarman |

well I've fired 132 rounds so far, w/ 68 loaded. I have not had a slamfire yet. But, I don't want to take that chance. I'll carefully shoot off the remaining loads, but that still leaves me w/ 1800 primers. ugh...

Dude, you need another rifle.
Simple problem. Simple solution. Get another rifle in another action type. You can never have enough hardware, right?

I don't want another rifle. I have my favorite 2 rifles of all time in my possession, the Carbine and the Garand, and I'm happy with them.

A solution for your favorite rifles and primer issue
Get an M1A, then you can use the 210 primers, Then you will have an almost complete set of war horses.
I don't have the carbine yet, but do have the M1 and M1A and am almost ready for the 1903 search, I only use the CCI 34's in the Garand. And IMR4895 and Varget for my loads, most have been of the 150g and also tried about 10 clips of 168g HPBT, ( I think Sierra ) I guess I didn't find the right combo for that so went back to the 150's and viola ! back in the black with ease. Enjoy ! Duane USN/Ret Reloading with Blue/red/orange/green. |

I wouldn't worry about the Federal primers. I load with standard primers all the time for an M1, M1A, M14, FAL, BAR, and several other 308 gas rifles. Never had a slamfire and frankly don't know anyone who has. If they were mine I'd shoot 'em without a second thought.

Stored properly, primers last a long, long time. I'd go ahead and buy primers that work and save the rest for when you stray to a bolt gun. If you find yourself north of the metromess I'll buy a thousand from you. Feel free to PM.
