The book I have only covers up to 2004. Yours was made after that. S&W customer service can give you the DOB over the phone.

Wondering about my model 64 year of manufacture, S/N BEJ12**? It is in beautiful condition, former Georgia State DOC sidearm. I picked it up very reasonably.

S&W model 60-9

Curious about the age on my 2” 357 mag model 60-9 the numbers above those are ccdxxxx not sure what that means. I kinda always assumed it was a 80s baby. Is it important to not share serial numbers?

CCDxxxx is the serial number and dates it to 1997.

Scored a Lew Horton 29-3 Classic Hunter, serial AYC0xxx. This would be the second half of 1987 I think, but I'm curious if the book is any more specific.

Thanks!

Book shows AWW as Jul 87 and AYW as Dec 87. So, somewhere between them.

I believe that is an assembly number. Take the serial number from the underside of the guns grip frame. Up to 1983 there will be a "D" in the serial number. Post 83 will have a three letter prefix. Depending on the grips you have you may need to remove them to see it.

Serial numbers ran from J1 in 1969 to J99999 in 1970.

Serial # look up

I have a few cylinders that I would like to know which model they go to.
Serial#: 3728XX (6-shot, blued)
and
411XX (5-shot, satin)

Any help would be appreciated.

Up until 1968 S&W would reuse the same serial numbers among different models. So, I would need the dimensions as well as the chamberings to even get in the ballpark. Still, different models used the same cylinders as well. Pictures might help.
