should ring be handtight?

I shot my 870 Express for the first time today with my dad in Temple, and had an AWSOME time busting up clays. We both did very well, but I didn't realize he was a left-handed rifle shooter, so he was at a slight disadvantage. Either way, we had fun.

QUESTION:
The large ring at the end of the magazine tube that holds the barrel snug to the stock seems to become a little loose after 25+ rounds... any idea how to kep that tight enough so you can undo it by hand if you want to, but so it stays on there tight when you want it to stay? Am I supposed to tighten it with something other than by hand? Should I be using a wrench?

Thanx,
Ben

Hand tight oughta do it, but sometimes they do loosen, especially when firing heavy loads.

For slug use, I suggest tightening an 870 handtight, then using padded Channelocks, etc, to tighten it ONE more click.

Or, work on your hand strength....
