using slug's
I Have a 1940 Remington model 11 in great shape with a Cutts compensator and a Lyman choke, I would like to shoot slug's in it for deer and hog's. Question will i loose velocity with having the compensator on it as the pressure is going out the vent's.

Arki,
You may want to give more info on your gun. Then these guys can give you their thoughts. I am new to shotguns myself. What is the barrel length? (Maybe the lenght before the compensator) What is the choke setting on the choke? Is it a smooth bore or rifled? I have read that some of thses guys use their home defense to hunt with. Some of those have 20" or 22" barrels. They seem to be successful. The only thing I do know, is the best thing for you to do is take the gun to the range with a couple different brands of slugs. Then sight it in. You can stack milk jugs in a line filled with water and conduct a loose penetration test at different ranges. This might give you a good idea of how far a shot you can take. I hope this helps.

You will not lose velocity.
Also, a Full choke usually isn't the best choice for slugs. Get another tube from Numrich, etc, and have at it. |

After looking at a few site's it's a extra full choke, I'll look for a Mod or an I/C choke for it.
