.223 loads

Anyone has any good ideas for a .223 load using Accurate 2230 powder?

Accurate's manual lists bullet weights from a Nosler 45 SP to SRA 80 HPBT. I'm hesitant to say more unless I knew what you were going to use. Their website is at www.amfire.com/gunsites/accurate/accuratehome.html
There is no reloading information at this site but there is an 800 number for customer service if I recall correctly.

Stupid of me,

I use these components, Federal brass
Federal 205 small rifle primers
Accurate 2230 powder
Bullets include Hornady's 55 grain Vmax bullet in .223 and Sierra 69 grain HPBT match bullet.

Test components include a Rem 7 1/2 primer, Rem case, 24" barrel, and the gun is listed as Wilson(I assume it is a Wilson test barrel). The load listed for the Sierra 69 gr HPBT using 2230 starts at 22.1 @ 2578 up to 24.5 @ 2929 with 51300 c.u.p. with cartridge length of 2.250". They don't list the Vmax per se but they do list a Hornady 53 HP 'Match' starting 23.4 @ 2862 up to 26.0 @ 3252 with 49900 c.u.p. with a cartridge length of 2.225". Nolser 55 SPBT loading starting at 23.4 @ 2830 up to 26.0 @ 3216 with 50300 c.u.p. with a cartridge length of 2.230". HTH

Greetings,
I have used 2230 in the 223, but with Nosler
55gr Ballistic Tips. I use 25.5 gr and seat the bullet just short of the rifling.
This load is very accurate in my Remington,
but the bullet is fragile and destructive.
I wouldn't use it on anything I wanted to save the pelt from.

I shoot with a Bushmaster M4 14.5 inch semiauto. Any varmints encountered wouldnt have much pelt worth hanging on a wall anyway.

fal 308's info seems remarkably similar to the data found there, but remember, don't take anyone's word for it; find the data yourself, in print, from a reliable source.

If you haven't tried the Lee Collet crimper die for the .223, you really should, especially if using a semi auto. Walt

It is indeed a Varmint Synthetic M700. (short action Sendero) If you can find it, there was a run of Accurate powder released called 2200 Data powder that is slightly faster than 2230. It may give better velocity in your short barrel. I have the AA manual if you need any more data for their powders.
