Congratulations! It's always satisfying to see the end of the story wrapped up with success! I think I remember disagreeing with the 45-70 in favor of the 30-06. But I'm happy to have been a miniscule part of the process, even if I was wrong.

So, what was the load you used? Just curious, I shot a lot of 45-70....my favorite caliber the last ten years or so.

One of my three favorite powders for this cartridge: 4198, Rel7, and 2400. Congrats on the moose.

I've never used any but factory ammo .300 gr for my 45-70 ,and used the Barnes .Less recoil, accurate great, performer . Also great for 44mag.with the 225.These both for up to 100 yds.

So as I was driving the side by side on a mud path I said, I think we can make it across the bog. Wrong, buried it up to the doors. Nothing around to winch it. I ask my son in law, do you think we can dig it out. He responds, I believe in my heart we are f—- stuck. lol luckily some kind hunter came on his atv with his winch and set us free. I am banned from driving it again

LOL! I'd take pics of a stuck truck, thats almost as good!

Tell your SIL now you have another story to go with the moose. In your 20's thats an adventure. In your 50's it becomes a PITA.
