Mossberg 500AR ?
I have my dads mossberg 500AR. Pre-1968. So no serial number
Or at least I can't find one... I had several look also...nada Any other serial number locations hidden ? What does 'ar' mean ? It does have the engraved parts on the receiver mechanism Using older style 2 3/4. Shells I know it is not a fancy gun, but I want to use it

Does it have a vent rib and adjustable choke?Mines an AR too and it has the vent rib and adjustable choke that what I thought it meant.Could be wrong.

No reason not to use it. I thought AR meant aluminum receiver, but I could be mistaken

All mossberg 500s and their derivatives have always had aluminum receivers. The "A" designates it as a 12 gauge. A "B" would be 16ga. "C" is 20ga. "E" is .410.
The "R" I believe designates it as a vent rib model. |
