In the market for a new(er) pistol

I know what I like and what I have owned in the past. I had a G22 and did not care for the 40 S&W so I have decided to drop back down to 9mm, I have considered the G19 but I know there is more out there than Glock. I like the vids I have seen and reviews of the Ruger SR9, Beretta PX4 Storm, S&W M&P line, H&K USP Compact and possibly the Steyr A1 series of pistols. I will be getting my CCW ASAP and a home defense pistol doubled as a carry pistol is what I am after. I am going Weds to HOPEFULLY shoot some of the M&P's that my friends owns, with all of this being said I am not a fanboy or brand whore of anything particular but I know SOMETIMES a good name and reputation has a product that might slip through the cracks and not be up to par. My Brother had mentioned the Sig 250's series but I found the reviews to not be in the area I was looking for, I also did not care for the way it felt in my hand.

I also saw that S&W came out with an SD line and I could not help to tell myself if you buy cheap you get cheap, if anyone has opinions on ANY of the pistols I have mentioned, even the new SD line I would like to hear the pro's and cons. I have smaller hands so large grips may not work well for me.

When I'm not carrying my PT709, I'm carrying my M&P 40 proseries with a 4.25'' barrel.
They are harder to find right now and cost more than the M&P duty model, but I think they are worth the extra bucks for a much nicer trigger and NS. I just like the way it fits my hand with the small backstrap.

With minimal work I've got the trigger down to a silky smooth 3.5lbs without buying any Apex parts.

If your good with a DA revolver, there's nothing wrong with the Sig P250. Yes they had problems with them, mine worked fine. Most guys hate the long trigger pull, but the trigger on my 250 was smooth as glass.

I checked out the SD9 at the lgs, did not like the trigger. I ended up getting a M&P9 and am very happy with it. A bit large to C.C. IMO. Later I picked up the compact and like that alot. I was lucky enough to find a TALO model, came with a 12 rd and a 17 rd mag. That was just dump luck, I would have bought the non-Talo but the lgs got that at the last minute. SCORE!

Not necessarily locked but they are what I have the most experience with, I have shot 1911 and I shot the ones I did well but I was trying to stay away from a 45 (I do know the 1911 can come in other calibers)

Check out the sig sp2022. Great gun and is a little bigger than g19. Have both and love both.

Well sir, personally I can't say enough good things about the Beretta. Fantastic handguns, so out of your list I would go with the PX4. If not then the hk. Also a fantastic.gun. however, depending on how small your hands are, I would highly recommend the Springfield xd9 subcompact. Everyone has their preferences though.

What I'm getting at, there are many non-polymer 9mm on the market worth looking at.

The 2022 is a good gun, if you wan a full size and DA/SA. Great buy for the money. Just sold mine. Picked up a Ruger SR9c. Shot it this weekend and I ma much more accurate with it than the Sig. Perhaps because of the slimmer grip is more comfortable for me. Looked hard at the M&P 9c and the XDm 3.8c. Ended with the Ruger cause it was most comfortable in hand. And the sub $500 price tag with two mags didn;t hurt.

Just order the Ghost trigger, so will report late on it.

Of the guns mentioned in the OP Glock, M&P, and H&K are the most highly recommended and respected firearms on the market. I have heard good initial reports of the SD line but nothing in the way of a high round count long term report. CZ is also good and the older W. German Sig's.
