Tactical Use of Hearing Protection
Hello Everyone,
For many years Lethal Force Institute (LFI) and Massad Ayoob helped popularize the tactical and range use of the excellent Gentex Wolf Ears muffs. These have been an essential part of my tactical kit for over a decade as they allow me to hear sounds I would not normally be able to hear with my normal hearing and would allow me to retain my ability to hear in case gunfire erupted. With the demise of the Gentex Wolf Ears, what make and model of hearing protection comes closest to duplicating the old Gentex product for tactical and/or range use? How about the newer Swedish MSA line of hearing protection? Thank you for your input. - Anthony |

You might want to check out E.A.R. Inc., they might have some options available that will be of interest to you.

I have some made by Radians. They are relatively inexpensive and work VERY well for me. I have the headset style and the hearing aid (think Walkers Game Ear) both made by Radians and I like them both. The headset type also allows me to use an earbud so I can talk on the radio (just run the wire under the muff) and I find them to be less annoying over hours of use when hunting. I got them for $125 and the hearing aid type for about $50 (set of 2) on eBay.

I like the Peltor Tac-7. Not cheap, but isn't your hearing worth it?
