Losing post count

I've got cookies enable, and have my security settings set to remember and allow this site. I never have to re-log onto the forum, yet every other time I enter the site my post count seems to be restarted. Not a big deal really, just curious if it's on my end.

Doesn't seem to be a problem with other forums...

Your post count seems to be restarted? Restarted in what way? You currently have 9 posts, and you post count shows 9. What is the post count you see when you login?

I currently see nine posts listed. I'm refering to the 120- or -so posts that have dwindled away in groups 20/30 between May 2004 and April 2005. Like I said, no big deal-just curious....

This makes ten.

Now you've got my curiosity raised. There is about a one year gap in your posts from 5/04 to 5/05. Are you saying you posted 100+ posts in that time period that have disappeared?

Do you recall the topic of any (or even one) of them so that we can trace this?

Most of them were about reloading, did one about reason for user name, and posted a couple pics for Veterans day 04, also an experimental .50cal gatling in a response to a camel hunting post. Remember talking about handling a then new P-345 at the NRA convention in Pittsburgh,(April 04).

Really sorry to have brought it up, had some computer/server problems over the last few months, but none of the other fire-arm forums I frequent have given any cause for concern.

Anywho, no harm-no foul. This is a great site that I visit at least twice a day, and never have any trouble getting in. I did forget my password last year, but the e-mail handled that in short order... Thanks

I haven't the slightest clue here. Posts may only be deleted by Staff and Staff would have provided a Heads Up.

Can you lock down one particular thread where you have a disappeared post?

Does the screen name .45 Vet sound familiar to you?

Methinks a merge is in order.

2late45,
If you can't pinpoint an exact previous post, try saving several of your current posts on your PC as files. If they later disappear, you can submit exact copies of the missing posts for moderators to use in tracking problem.

Good shooting and be safe.

Either there is an unusual coincidence here or TheBluesMan has solved the puzzle. 2Late45 are you posting under 2 different names?

I am a moderator in another vBulletin based forum. Something that will affect post count is threads that have been deleted (either by the origional poster or by forum staff). Also the board can be set up to automatically prune old threads...so there may not have been human interaction removing your posts.

What an idiot......

Returned after 8 hours of honest sleep,I believe the bluesman has solved my riddle. Sorry for all the confusion/concern, poor record keeping on my part and user-name password mix-up. PLease feel free to delete any and all listings under 2late45 on this site.

Again, I apologise for the mix-up..... Terry

No biggee - an obviously unintentional faux pas. Your two accounts will be merged under ".45 Vet" so no posts will be lost.

Thanks, Mal. I had enough time today to diagnose the problem, but not enough time to fix it.

Welcome back .45 Vet!
