Puerto Rico to Go Shall Issue!! Handgunlaw.us

Looks like the impossible has happened. Info in English is sketchy as the bill is in Spanish and there is no Reliable Translation into English that I know of yet. Instead of posting all the links here to http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/puertorico.pdf and the links to the Story at Ammoland, To Act, to Google Translation (Not Great) and a Synopsis from handgunlaw.us are right at the top of the page as I have put a Notice there with all those links. Things will not be cleared up completely until a reliable English Translation is available.

Handgunlaw.us is also in the process of going over every statute quoted on every states page and checking them against the current published codes of each states for accuracy. This is a very time consuming process but needs done as little changes in those statutes don’t get mentioned to much and easily slip by. I am hoping to have them all done by Dec 20.

Doesn't reciprocity only apply to the states. Regardless, you are still going to contend with transportation issues, to the US. If what you say is true, it will certainly get interesting and make for good study ……

Reciprocity applies to any jurisdictions that agree to recognize each other's licenses/permits. I think, however, that in this case "reciprocity" was intended to mean "recognition." My state, for example, has effectively no reciprocity (mutual recognition), but there are a dozen or more states that unilaterally recognize my state's permit.

Puerto Rico could very easily just decide that they will recognize current permits from any of the fifty states plus DC -- or they could recognize only permits from states whose permitting process puts the applicants through certain hoops. Or they might start issuing non-resident permits.

Wow. What a long strange trip it's been. This took off with the Nido-Lanausse case in 2010, and it's just now being enforced.

Where can I find the link to the law in Spanish? I would like to read it and find out if there’s any reciprocity.

Follow Gary Slider's link to the Handgunlaw page. Scroll down the box on the right-hand side of the page and you'll find a link to PR Gun Laws in both English and Spanish.

According to this link, PR will honor permits from ALL states:
https://utahcarrylaws.com/puerto-rico-2020/

This link also has links to the new law in both English and Spanish.
