Harley, how about the parkerized Model 37 with the factory 8 shot extension? Not interested in parting with it (love the fanfire fun), just curious.

Model 37 Police?

Gary:
From the sounds of it you may have a Model 37 Law Enforcement. Ithaca intered the Law enforcement market in 1962, when it introduced the Model 37 Military and Police (M&P) 8 Shot mag. The M&P was styled after the riot guns made under various military contracts.

The only price listing I have on it is from 1999, with values from $360.00 down to $75.00.

G,day harley

Before the gov over here confiscated it in the Big Gun Buyback in '96, I had an Ithica that was simmilar to the M&P but it had a 7 shot mag and had written on the side DS police special.
Is there anything you can tell me about this gun.
I would like to know if the gov ripped me off by insisting that it was just a 37 featherweight and giving me US$250.

Thanks Mick

Value

Mick:
I do not have a reference for 1996 Values, and have no knowldedge of your location. (by the greeting: Aussie?) So I cannot say if you were ripped off or not. Even in the U.S. that gun may differ in price from, let's say, NY or MS.

I am assuming that the shotgun you had was an 8 shot. 7 in the mag, one in the chamber. Ithaca, to my knowledge or references, did not list a 7 shot in the M&P.

Harley

Thats correct, 7 in the mag.

I was really pissed off at the buyback but I was thinking of selling the gun anyway because it had a sloppy chamber and cheaper shotshells would expand into the extractor slot and the gun would jam. The only way around it was to shoot winchester super X, which seemed to be thicker in the plastic base and didnt ever jam. Winchester slugs were a differant matter though.

Thanks, Mick
