Which non American ammo brand would you reach for?
I'm just stocking up on my ammo reserves and am wondering which non American ammo producer you would use if you had to use any of the 6 options and why.
I chose these brands because the price point on 1000+ rounds is fairly similar and online store reviews are generally pretty good. This poll isn't caliber specific but leaning towards 9mm, 45 acp, and 5.56. Last edited by PushPuller; May 13, 2018 at 08:22 AM. |

I’ve had trouble with Aguila, Fiocchi and Sellier & Bellot. I buy American only. Why are you wanting non-US brands??? I’ve also had problems with Remington Alamo and products so they are out. I do buy the cheap Winchester White Boxes. I also reload some calibers.

My experience with these brands is limited to 380acp. Out of all of those, I carry Fiocchi and have experienced good accuracy with Aguila.

I happen to like 9mm Fiocchi, S&B, and PPU, these all shoot really well out off every 9mm I own. I avoid 9mm WWB, Win USA Forged, and Rem U Must Clean.

I have shot all of those in .45 ACP, and most in 9mm. No preference. If the reason is price, I'd chooses whichever is least expensive on the day I'm buying.

Out of my 380, PPU was the least accurate, but all of the brands you listed fit and functioned just fine. Accuracy becomes the deciding factor for me.

"...don't necessarily warrant high quality ammo..." All of 'em warrant the best possible ammo. The price makes no difference. Especially milsurps.
So you have to try a box of as many brands as you can to find the ammo your particular pistols and rifle both shoot well and cycle the action.

For 22 LR, Eley is one of the best. I also use Aguila.
For 357 Magnum, I had a lot of dead primers with Fiocchi. That was frustrating. In 9 mm, I’ve tried mainly American, as well as Remanufactured ammo. Only one I dislike is WWB. In 380 ACP, 40 S&W and 45 ACP, I’ve also used American only. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Fiocchi has manufactured ammunition in Missouri since the '80's.

I’ve had very good results with PPU in 9mm and 5.56/.223 myself. Tried Aguila before and while it was accurate, seemed to be fairly dirty.

I've always had good luck with PPU and Sellier & Bellot. I've noticed the last batch of MEN 9mm ammo I ordered has some pep to it- makes for a good break-in ammo.

I really enjoy Magtech. 0 issues with the many thousands of rounds I've fired, seems very consistent too, and priced super reasonable. Great ammo. In fact I'd rather shoot it over say Remington or Winchester (and do).

PPU. I've never had any issues with their ammo other than their JHP stuff, which never expands, even in water. It's just a cheap, clean, fairly accurate, brass ammo and that's all I ask for.
Aguila I haven't had any issues with, their ammo is fine. Same with Fiocchi, but their primer pockets seem to be extraordinarily tight and tough to seat primers in for some reason. Other than 9mm, I find Magtech to be cheap crap. Sellior and Bellot I've had .22 LR bullets literally fall out of the case. Never bothered with PMC. When PPU and Aguila and Fiocchi are so good, why bother?

I have it all except Aguila. All has done a good job. I picked PPU because I have used it the most...

I've used all the ammo's listed, but I have a Bodyguard that's ammo picky and has light strikes and failure to fire on anything but Magtech or PMC so...Magtech got my vote.

I have had excellent luck with Fiocchi for many years. I killed doves with Fiocchi shotshells for many years before I ever heard of S&B or many of the others. So, that's it for me personally.

CDR Glock: I had a lot of light firing pin strikes while using Fiocchi ammo also. I cleaned and lubricated the internals and changed out the springs on my K frame. No more
Iight strikes with any ammo. |

Vote: MagTech.
MagTech and PPU have been good to me, but I've shot far more MagTech. Fiocchi is generally decent, but the MagTech (CBC) and PPU brass is higher quality. (Matters to me, as I reload.) S&B and PMC have given me far too many problems. They're on the no-fly list. Aguila... I like everything that I've used from Aguila - especially the rimfire ammo - but I haven't shot enough of their centerfire ammo to really make a call on it. It's been good to me, but the sample size is still too small. Side note: The above assumes handgun cartridges. If looking at rifle cartridges, as well, then PPU takes the top slot, with MagTech dropping to second. PPU's rifle ammo is more consistent, and the rifle brass is superior. (Again - I'm a reloader, brass quality is a notable consideration for me.)

Fiocchi has great ammunition. They have a 50 round box of jhp for around 14-17 bucks for a box of 50, 115gr. It expands pretty damn well upon testing. S&B is g2g for fmj range ammo.

MAGTECH from CBC BRAZIL is excellent ammo, the .45 ammo is very reasonable only $14.98 a box retail for 230 gr fmj ball
S&B is also good stuff I only buy TULA ammo for the SKS & M44 because nobody else makes it cheap, and the sks and mosin nagant was designed for steel cased ammo. |

I like S&B brass - it sizes very well & seems to last a long time.
PMC - not so much. |

For those of you who have used or use S&B fairly extensively have you had any experience with the casings shedding small brass flakes into the gun? every time I shoot 200+ rounds in one sitting it looks like somebody blew gold glitter into the inside of my guns. Its not hard to clean and the casings seems to be in good condition still. PPU and none of the American brands seem to do it.

I always go for S&B. I’ve shot 11 cases of the FMJ 124 gr. Without issue.
