I started reloading for cowboy action shooting. I bought a 550b and everything I need to reload. I went to the gun show and bought bullets, primers and power but was wondering if anybody knows if there is a good website or store in the DFW area where I can get this stuff cheaper.

Can get brass fairly reasonable on ebay. Try to stick with one brand. I like starline and winchester for my 44-40's. I cast my own bullets and shop around for the best buy on CCI or Winchester primers and powder.

Hey Hawg,

When is the last time you visted ebay. Brass has been banned on that sight for more than a year or two. Gunbroker, AA, and a few others still auction it, but ebay thinks it is part of the evil firearms that they are fired in.

Been awhile okie but don't think it's been a year ago that I bought some .45 ACP brass from there.

For brass go straight to Starlines website I found my 45-70 brass as cheap or cheaper then other sites but that said try Graf & Son they have great deals if in stock.

I buy my brass directly from Starline Brass Company. I last bought BP in bulk from Powder Incorporated. Primers I bought in bulk from Cabelas along with some smokeless powder but only because I had a $75 off coupon I got in the mail. For bullets I need to work on that. Typically, I just order 500 bullets at a time but they come with smokeless lube which may or may not be usable for your application. I need to get a cheaper source for bullets but I'm not quite ready to take on casting just yet....even though I know I should.

p.s. Correctomundo...I last bought in bulk from Jack's Powder Keg. It was $12.60/lb but now its up to $13.40/lb. I'd probably buy Diamondback Powder at $10.15/lb the next time around.

Clembert, I see what you mean about Jacks. It was $225.00 shipped for 25 lbs last time I looked, now it is $275.00. I couldn't get anybody to go in on a buy so I gave up. I also wondered how the powder was in comparison to other brands?

As I recall correctly, Jack's Battle Powder is missing the graphite. That is, it is FFF not FFFg. Graphite acts as a lubricant but perhaps more importantly it is a medium to allow static electricity to pass around the granules rather then through them. Diamondback has graphite thus the FFFg designation as does Goex.
