Ultramag shotgun for Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler, and others desirous of an ultramag shotgun.

To be honest, shotgun shells have not had any significant development compared to what's happened in the centerfire rifle and handgun development. Comparable development would do for 10 gauge what 3 1/2" did for 12 gauge. Since 10 gauge 3 1/2" shells can not be developed for higher pressures - because of older guns...

How about a 4 inch, 10 gauge ultramag shotgun?
Either semi-auto to absorb recoil or a heavy double-barreled goose gun?

This round could also be used in the Heavy Support Automatic Shotgun.

It could also be more effective at 100 yards - an ongoing discussion here.

It would be a *legal* alternative to a 4 gauge shotgun.

Build it for the same pressures as the 3 1/2" 12 gauge.

With 2 1/2 oz of shot at 1400 fps it would have about the same muzzle energy as a 458 Win. Mag. or just shy of a 470 Nitro Express

All I can say is OUCH!!!! Those heavy 10ga Loads are painful!! They have more recoil then a 458WinMag.

2.25 oz of 4's out of a 10ga hurts (Win Double X Mag Turkey Loads), I wouldnt want to feel that 2.5oz @ 1400fps!

Oh yeah to get a 100% Hit prob (not just a HIT, but a hit to put someone down) from a 12ga firing 00Buck you would need......... 12pellet 00 buck 3" mags fired in a 3round burst, rifle sights, and of course have the pattern zeroed in for the sites. Well that is what I remember from JackHammer.

Hey Dead, how heavy is your shotgun?

At 10 lbs mine is no worse than a 30-06.
If the centerfire rifle guys can handle 300 Win or Weatherby Mags, then we should be able to handle 4 inch 10 gauge. Surely at 100 yards about eighteen 00 buck ought to have a better chance of a hit. But realistically, 50 yards would be good enough with fourteen 000 buck.
