anyone know what the original load measurements for the first 10mm handguns the F B I used

If you look at underwoods ammo ? Their ammo is the full recipe so to speak. Pricing not bad and I think you can get some of their load data.

IIRC, the FBI never actually issued the "full power" Norma 10mm loading as it was deemed to produce excessive recoil during the testing phase. Agents were issued the reduced-power Federal loading from the get-go which, depending on the source, delivered a 180-190gr bullet at 950-1050fps. Federal's current 10mm Hydra-Shok offering is about the closest to the "FBI load" in terms of ballistics that is still available, but the original used the older JHP design which I believe Federal now calls the "Hi-Shok".

The FBI initially issued the full loadings, but agents were not receptive to it in general. It scared them, and many had a problem qualifying with it. THAT is when it got watered down. It just overwhelmed enough of them, who complained, and the compromise was born.

I don't think the FBI ever issued the full-power loads. Testing revealed that they could get the performance they wanted without 10mm ballistics, so they - the training unit that was evaluating guns and cartridges - developed a new, reduced load for FBI use. The "gun's too big", "too heavy", etc., mostly came into play later, when the FBI wanted to justify getting out of the 10mm.
