IWB carry and pain, follow up report.

I wanted to let you guys know about a recent development regarding the pain I am experiencing with IWB carry that I posted here a while back. The pain has not lessoned and my lower back is always in pain 24/7 whether I carry or not. Some days are worse than others. Yesterday I went to a spinal specialist. After x-rays and an examination I was told I have spinal scoliosis. Also, I have spinal disc degradation and some of the bones in my spine are fusing together. Certainly not what I expected to hear. So, I want to tell all of you who may be experiencing what I have been, get it checked out now. I have a follow up appointment with one of the nations top spine surgeons to see what comes next. I was told whatever he did, it would be a non surgical approach for now. How this will all play out as far as being able to comfortable carry a gun is anyone's guess. For now, I am carrying strictly OWB and pocket carry, both of which are much less painful.

How is the muscular strength of your core? Have you tried physician therapy or back strengthening exercises?

Degenerative scoliosis means you back is bending to one side. Don't have that, but I am degenerating. My bone crusher(chiropractor to ya'll) told me years ago to carry my wallet on the other side. Still not exactly sure why. Something about how I sit. Maybe you need to move the holster to a cross draw.

Because like truck drivers with fat wallets in one back pocket, it throws your entire spine completely out of alignment, same for a gun only carried in one spot. (Why I carry my wallet in the cargo pocket of my shorts)

While a good holster and belt can help, over time it puts a strain on your spine.

I've been using one of these wallets for about 15 years. I'd never go back to anything else. With 15-20 ID cards, Credit cards, various licenses etc. and 25 bills of various denominations it is thinner than most leather or nylon wallets with nothing in them. The design lets it fold and conform to your back side when sitting. They are made from a tough cloth. I generally get 3-4 years out of one.

As for carrying IWB, the thinner and lighter the gun and holster the better.

I dislike IWB carry. Pants have to be larger and in the older holsters, the gonne can slip out of it. I'm strictly a shoulder holster or belt holster guy.
