Installing buttplate?

Hi
I am thinking about installing an adjustable buttplate and spacers on my mcmillan HTG and doing it myself (see picture). The current buttplate is glued in place so i need to remove it somehow. There is also a "mount-hole" for attatching a sling, is this going to be in the way for the screws or cause any other problem?

Is this a common DIY job or should i have someone professional do it?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

/Jonne

"...butt plate is glued..." You'll have to cut it off. Use a mitre box or mitre chop saw with a fine blade and masking tape to keep the splintering to a minimum.
Rear sling swivel screws tend to be short things.
If you have any doubts at all, pay somebody. That's a $200 pad going on a $300 plus stock.

I know nothing about a McMillan HTG, but I'll bet there are screws holding that pad in place. Poke around the rubber, and you will find soft spots where the screws are.
I have never seen a buttplate that was glued on.

Likewise.

I would guess that the rubber 'heals' back around where the screw driver was inserted and you should be able to find the holes again.
